Olympus Digital Voice Recorder: Is it worth investing?

Olive Nguyen Technology

You will find a wide range of options when shopping for an Olympus digital voice recorder. Some cost less than $50, while others can reach $500 or $600.

Among the reasons are adding features, improving microphone sensitivity, and increasing storage space. Some recorders that cost less than $150 can record and recorders that cost more!

Feature-wise, there is not much missing – and if all you need is the basics, you’ll be fine.

Purchasing Olympus digital voice recorders

“WS-series” refers to a series of cameras made by Olympus. Consumer electronics websites give these recorders excellent reviews even though they are considered a “consumer grade” digital Olympus voice recorder.

Even if you aren’t a journalist or doctor, these will often be fine. The primary difference between the WS-Series voice recorders from Olympus is just the recording time. These digital voice recorders come in three versions: WL-311M, WL-321M, and WL-320M. They all perform the same functions. All voice activation features, WMA export, and USB ports for Mac or PC.

Powered with latest one triple A-battery

Three AAA batteries power the WS-Series digital voice recorders from Olympus. You might think this limits your recording time. It doesn’t.

A single triple-A battery can last up to 20 hours.

As well as being small, WS-series voice recorders are also very portable. Each one is approximately four inches long, two inches wide, and less than half an inch thick. The microfiber cloth can be easily folded into a shirt pocket, back pocket, or even into a small purse or messenger bag without taking too much space.

Who can use it?

The Olympus DS series is a great option if you want a more expensive camera. Professionals in the legal and medical fields use the DS-4000 camera made by Olympus. Recent Olympus releases, such as the DS-2, offer similar features at lower prices.

Does it require installing software?

If you want to transfer files from your digital voice recorder to your PC or Mac, you must avoid installing software. Olympus’ DS- and WS-series are mass storage devices that detect the device. As a result, Olympus digital voice recorder appears as an additional hard drive when plugged into your computer.

It can be opened on a computer, and files can be dragged over to your desktop to be edited.

Some manufacturers like Sony tend to require you to install their software before you can move or upload files, which can be problematic if you aren’t near your computer.
